The project presentation at the conference in Bonn

In order to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Erasmus program and „half- term” of the implementation of Erasmus+ program the conference European conference on Dissemination and Impact in the School Sector - „Best practice results from Erasmus+” was organized in Bonn from 17 to 19 May 2017.

More than 200 people from 31 countries took part in the event. There were, first of all, the coordinators of best projects from particular countries, members of National Agencies of Erasmus+ program and representatives of European Commission and Commission of Ministers of Education and Culture, as in Germany each Land has its own Minister of Education and Culture.

The event's itenerary included lecturers and discussions on numerous and various topics connected with the implementation of international educational projects. Apart from that, the conference participants worked in groups discussing some issues connected with the future of European projects and factors leading to the success of a given project.

The core point of the conference was the presentation of the successful projects. Some of them were presented in the form of multimedia presentation, both at the general session and group work, and some were displayed at the exhibition hall. Our project belonged to the second group. The professionally designed ZSTiL stand (with the leaflets and the poster) turned out to be very popular among the visitors of the conference. The project coordinator, Mrs Grażyna Skęczek, was asked about the idea of the project ,types of the project tasks and the achieved results as well as the project impact on the school work.

The project honoured by National Agency of Erasmus+ programme (20 February 2017)

The project implementation received the highest grade by Polish National Agency of Erasmus+ programme, i.e 100 points out of 100 ! The project was also acknowledged as an example of „good practice”, and its coordinator was invited to take part in the international conference European conference on Dissemination and Impact in the School Sector - „Best practice results from Erasmus+”, which is going to be held in Bonn, Germany from 17-19 May, 2017.

This is a great success of our project since such an outstanding distinction was given to only two Polish schools (from a group of over 400) implementing projects in the sector of School Education – Staff Mobility in 2014-2016.

There was a meeting held to sum up the project activities; the participants evaluated and assessed particular activities and their impact on the development of various competences of the teachers taking part in the project.

Training for the beneficiaries

On 22nd April 2016 two participants of the Project took part in the training "SElfie+ PROMUJ I INSPIRUJ!" organized for the beneficiaries of the program Erasmus+ School Education Section.
The event took place in Warsaw and consisted of three parts and one of them was devoted to copyright law, another one to Internet tools to be used for projects' promotion and the third one was in the form of eTwinning workshop.

Execution 2nd mobility

From 7th to 10th March 2016 the second mobility planned in the project was carried out.

This time a group of 4 teachers went for job shadowing to Liceo Scientifico Statale G. da Procida in Salerno, Italy.

The aim of the mobility was to learn in practice the work of another European school in terms of psychological and tutorial care of pupils and its ways of dealing with pupils’ problems.

The Polish teachers were warmly and cordially welcomed in the Italian school. Especially for them the Italian students prepared some art performance in English as well as the visual presentation of their school: its history, educational profiles, school chubs. The pupils also described the Italian system of education and showed the Polish teachers around the school.

Another important aspect of the mobility was the visit in the ASL U.O. Salute Mentale in Salerno, which co-operates with the local schools as far as the psychological-tutorial care of the young is concerned. The fruitful talks with its employees – pedagogues, doctors, psychologist and psychotherapists – broadened the participants’ knowledge as to the theme of the project in a considerable way.

During the mobility then was also a meeting with the employees of Liceo Scientifico who are responsible for the pedagogical and psychological care in the school. Their interesting presentations, reports let the Polish teachers know better the structure of the Italian care system in this field as well as the very methods and tools used by the Italian peers in their everyday work. The meeting was also the opportunity for exchanging the professional experience of the teachers from both countries.

The project participants also took part in some proper lessons and after-school activities in Liceo Scientifico and they also could visit the sights of Salerno, a beautiful city with ancient history.

The Polish teacher were impressed by the perfect organizations of the visit, the hosts’ care of high standard of the essential meetings and talks as well as the overall hospitality of the partner school. During the final meeting to summarize the results of the job shadowing, both parties expressed their hope to continue the newly-established co-operation in the future.

Execution 1st mobility

From 21st to 26th February 2016 the first mobility planned in the project was carried out.

The mobility involved the participation of 12 teachers in the professional course "Teenagers with Behaviour Disorders or Bad Boys?" organized by Progetto Crescere Soc. Coop. Soc. in Reggio Emilia, Italy.

The intensive activities run in English lasted from morning till late afternoon. Thanks to them the participants learnt about the diagnostic criteria of behavioural disorders and got to know the ways of telling apart the clinical disorders from teenagers' misbehaviour. A part of the training was devoted to bulling and the ways of preventing such situations.

The participants' favourite were the classes on practical tools which may be of use in their school work in order to learn a given class better and build better relationship in the class.

Another important and interesting experience was the visits in two local schools as well as the talks with Italian colleagues about the problems they have to cope with at work. It was also interesting to learn the methods and tools available to Italian teachers in order to help them deal with pupils with various disfunctions. The participants also studied the Italian system of education (very similar to Polish one) during the mobility meetings and together with the Italian experts were analysing the educational projects being carried out by our schools.

The course organizers also prepared for the participants some cultural schooling including the sampling of local food specialities and seeing the sights in Reggio Emilia. It was worth learning for both the Polish and Italian that Reggio Emilia is the town where in the same year of 1797 Józef Wybicki wrote the lyrics of Polish national anthem and the Italian three-color flag was presented for the first time.

The whole course can be best described with the following words : perfect organization, high quality training, friendly atmosphere, professional and communicative trainers.

The skills and abilities acquired during the mobility course are definitely going to be used by its participants in their further work at school and will be shared with other teaching staff members.

Cultural preparation

On 30th January 2016 the participants attended a course about Italy – the country of destination of the two project mobilities.

The schooling was run by Mrs. Małgorzata Puto, Mrs. Dominika Dykta and Mr. Przemysław Ślizak- lecturers at the Faculty of Philology, Silesian University in Katowice.

The general information about Italy was presented: the country’s division into 20 regions, some of them with special autonomy status; major towns (Rome, Milan, Naples, Florence, Turin), islands (Sicily, Sardinia). The participants could learn the differences between the rich industrialised North and the poorer, tourist and mainly agricultural South of Italy. There was also some information about the country’s past and history (Etruscans, Roman Empire, Italian princedoms and their uniting in 1861). It was very intriguing to know that the country’s name in other languages resembles the word "Italia" whereas we use the strange name "Włochy".

Emilia Romania and Campania two Italian regions, where the teachers’ mobilities are planned, were described in more details; the attention was paid to their geographic feathers, main cities (Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, Ravenna and Salerno), their sights and monuments.

Some time was also devoted to language issues; problems connected with different accents used in Italy that may cause problems for native speakers, especially the elderly ones, to fully understand each other while speaking.

The lecturers described some Italian customs and people’s character; the typical day activities, ways of celebrating seasonal festivals, behaviour of drivers and pedestrians. Some interesting facts about typical Italian dishes such as pasta, macaroni, pizza, ravioli, ricotta, tagliatelle, parmigiano reggiano, mozzarella, were presented.

Another important section of the meeting focused on Italian culture and art and their creators- Leonardo da Vinci, Caravaggio, Michelangelo, Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca.

The Italian system of education was also presented.

At the end of the session, the participants could ask for some advice connected with any problems/ situations while travelling to/in Italy. They were also given a set of useful Italian phrases.

Essential preparation

In January 2016 the participants took part in a discussion and workshop kind of training devoted to the main topic of the project. The training had two parts and was conducted by Mrs.Danuta Litner-Filipiak, a psychologist and therapist at Powiatowa Poradnia Psychologiczno - Pedagogiczna in Czechowice-Dziedzice (PPPP).

The first part focused on the PPPP’s work, its tasks, forms and ways of assistance and support it offers.

The second part was devoted to the causes of students’ school failures and other types of behavioural disorders of young people and their aggression.

Language preparation (December 2015)

The language preparation has been completed by the course participants. The aim was to enrich their vocabulary connected with the project theme as well as to practice communicative skills.

The preparation for the mobilities (October - November 2015)

The participants have been attending language courses since October and thanks to them their abroad mobilities will be more fruitful.

We have also bought some books and other publications connected with the topic covered by the project. The participants are going to study them while preparing themselves for the course abroad and job shadowing.

The contracts with the host school for job shadowing have already been signed and now some details connected with both trips are being arranged.

The flight tickets have also been bought for all the participants.

We have been talking with the institutions which are going to provide us with some cultural and essential teaching.
